21st Century – Cocktails & Bartending
During the 20th century and leading into the 21st century the use of cordials, mixers and sirups spread following the spread of bars, cocktail making and home mixing and hosting.
These cordials were no longer handed out to sailors or sold at apothecaries. In fact, as we learned more about healthy living and varied dietary needs, cordials became part of an indulgence culture and are used for enjoyment as part of drinks and cocktails. Increasingly we see the bartender as the star equilibrist of cocktail-making but also see many are not afraid of trying cocktail making at home whether it is for a private drink, a little get-together with friends or family or a bigger party.
